Joan holds a PhD in physics from ICGC-UB,  where he developed his thesis on urban climate and earth observation. His research is focused on assessing the vulnerability and risk to extreme temperatures in urban ecosystems using climate models, earth observation (hyperspectral imagery correction and machine learning techniques) and in situ data. He has also co-directed 4 master theses in MSc of Geoinformation of the UAB and Master of Meteorology of the UB. He is currently working in the ICGC.
